The Bounty Hunter

A r u c a r D . [ R ] . Filed Under:

Watching the trailer to this was downright funny, the movie itself... Meh. It had its moments of comedy, for the most part it was filled with romance. Of course the movies falls under the genre of a romantic comedy, but this one took it a bit too far in the romance aspect.

Coming from the director of the hit movie Hitch, I was expecting ALOT more comedy than what was actually put into the movie. But it let down in that department and even as cute as a lovey dubby movie may be, it just did not pull me in as Hitch did.

An all too familiar tale in divorces, someone becomes consumed with their work, neglects the other, the other feels rejected, unwanted and it becomes hell. On the other hand, the other person sees the ignorance in one persons ways, sees the childishness, the foolish way of being and that determines why they leave.

In the end it just felt like they never were divorced, more so a normal separation which happens all too often with couples nowadays. So all in all, if you have been in a relationship before, a serious one, then you know the story all too well. Problem with that is, that this is supposed to take you away from that scenario and put you in a more comedic element, where you can laugh about certain things and see them a little lighter than they are. Instead of thinking about the person you just had those moments with.

The movie was not bad, but it wasn't as light as it should have been. For all you romance lovers, this is definitely a movie for you. Romantic comedy lovers, I do not believe you will be enticed by the comedy, but may be drawn to the romance.

As the blog garners more and more attention, I saw it only fit for this to become what it truly can. I am currently working on its own website, so that the users can have a true place to go instead of just having to type in a long ass name in the address bar.

The website domain has already been purchased, hosting has already been found, only thing required right now is for the folder to be setup, which once done I will be migrating these posts over there. Stay tuned for more information, I will be revealing the website hopefully within the next few days.

Thank you for everything.. It will be back bigger and better, now on to reviewing The Bounty Hunter. :)

Alvin and The Chipmunks The Squeakuel

A r u c a r D . [ R ] . Filed Under:

I must admit I have always loved the animated series of the original chipmunks. I was never a fan of the chippettes, even though they were the counter-parts to the originals, I viewed them as just a female replacement.

In this movie they tried to separate them and make them into their own individual characters and they succeeded in doing so. Initially you could see the same exact pattern from the originals to the girls, but they branched out into their own when Brittany [Lead Chippette] decided to stick up to Alvin and say he truly does not care of anyone but himself. [As if we did not know this already.]

The movie has a very good moral to it, some good humor and definitely is geared towards the younger generation and not us original fans. Beyonce's single ladies and Flo Ridas right round were the main titles for the movie and they delivered in giving the movie watcher some musical excitement.

One major flaw I saw with the movie was the lack of Dave in it. He was hurt in the beginning of the movie and did not come back into play until the end. I know it was supposed to show some character development for the chipmunks, but if they truly were trying to base this family wise as they obviously did, they should have included him a little bit more.

7 / 10 A solid family movie, everyone loves the chipmunks.

Zombies of Mass Destruction

A r u c a r D . [ R ] . Filed Under:

Now this was a movie worth watching. After all of the stupid ass zombie movies to be released as of late, all with shitty scripts, terrible acting, shitty CGI and even worse some with no real makeup effects, this was the SHIT.

Completely unexpected, it was at often times hilarious and the poster saying a political zomedy was perfect. It touches base on many simple things in the movie, even though the movie in itself is a joke. Zombie terrorist attack? That even sounds ridiculous, but not for this movie. Sounds just right.

The surprise of this movie reminded me of Dance of The Dead. Low budget title, great acting, awesome special effects makeup, great bloody scenes, true blue walking zombies, no CGI... Just an all around true zombie fan enjoyable experience.

Some parts may remind you of Shaun of The Dead, the special effects and the blood are a primary to this. Well done, well shot and fun at the same time, this is what you would expect from big budget zombie movies such as Zombieland, and it delivered. [Which was incredible.]

Definitely give this one a buy if you see it, you will not regret it and its a perfect movie to watch with your girl or boyfriend that is scared shitless of zombies. The look on their face when a zombie pops out of nowhere, PRICELESS!

Surviving Evil

A r u c a r D . [ R ] . Filed Under:

What can I say about this movie that you cannot tell by the main actors? Nothing. Even though Billy Zane was in The Phantom, a movie I actually liked, this movie is definitely the opposite. The protagonists of this movie go to an island in the Philippines in order to film one of those neurotic survival shows.

They find themselves way over their heads when they start encountering weird noises in the jungle, incredibly swaying tree's, people getting bit, random skeletons with blood all over them. Now all of these things sound like a compelling mix, problem is with shitty acting, an alright script but needed some immense tweaking, some horrible sound effects and mix all of this in with one mans desperate necessity to find gold? Weak.

The cover made me interested, the movie made me disappointed. In the end, I knew not to trust it, but I wanted to give these lower budget movies a chance, as some of them do come out to surprisingly great results. [Dance of The Dead] But this movie has definitely put a dent in that armor all over again.

If you have the time to watch this movie and want to spend some time with someone, dont watch this. lol

Defendor

A r u c a r D . [ R ] . Filed Under:

Now this is a movie I definitely did not expect to be as good as it was. Woody Harrelson is in the building ladies and gentleman! This man is on a roll, with Zombieland under his revival belt and now this in the bag, Woody seems like the go to man for a guaranteed laugh or some serious punch.

Woody plays Defendor, a regular human whom swears he is also a super hero, but not with magical powers, and he gets pissed if you spell his name Defender. He befriends a young prostitute whom he found giving a corrupt cop a blowjob in his car, he did not know what was going on, but he had business with the police officer, so he let her slide. lmao

The movie is very well done, shows the type of character that Defendor is, shows the love the community and its people showcase to him, it shows how someone can completely change other peoples lives just by being in their presence, even though sometimes it takes some obstacles to get over.

Comedy / Drama / Action / Spy . This movie covers alot of ground in little time and does so very well especially with the characters involved. Good acting, great script, some solid camera work by the director and Defendor. lol

8 / 10 [Def a sleeper.]

Survival of The Dead

I truly do not know what to say to this movie.. George A. Romero is a master if not THE master of zombie horror, but in this movie it just was not there. Shitty CGI, a terribad script, some alright acting, but their lines were just too bad.

Granted that the movie did have some shining moments, such as a supposed military woman whom is a  lesbian masturbating while sitting in her jeep awaiting action. The ending was not so bad either, it showed what fear can do in such a situation without thinking something through.

But lets get back to the movie as a whole, the zombies did not look bad at all, as expected of a Romero movie, the problem came in when computer animation needed to be used. Such as the infamous part where a group of rednecks decided to chop off the heads of the zombies and put them on stakes. Although awesome in its intent, horrible animation rendering made this shot completely shitty.

Unfortunately I did not enjoy this movie as much as I wanted to, even though it comes from a legend, the movie itself is not worth a legends grace, let alone stamping his name on such a product.

Just making a test blog post from my phone. Wanted to test and see if this would work and how well it does. Seems to be working perfectly with the exception of 2 vital components on an eclair 2.0 rom.

The add image and add video parts of the app do not work on eclair 2.0, they give me a force close error when either of them is launch and bring me back to the main menu of the application.

Regardless, i can easily go back to a 1.6 rom and install this. This is great! LoL

Green Zone

A r u c a r D . [ R ] . Filed Under:

A true story about a corrupt use of information, or be it the best way of using deception to a population. Testing the true strength of an army mans will, lies, war, deceit, misinformation, being misled, falsification of government documentation, twisting a mans words to use them against them to make a situation out of nothing.

No, I am not speaking about the government of today. Even though this bodies it in its entirety. I am speaking of the movie Green Zone. This movie literally puts things into perspective for you, whether you wish to see things for what they are or not, war is and always has been about politics, this movie pushes that envelope that much further.

Matt Damon plays Chief Warrant Officer to the U.S. Army Roy Miller. He and his team are given the task of going to the sites located and described in their briefings and check for WMD's. What happens when he sees that there is nothing there? He becomes a true human being. Thats what happens. He asks natural and important questions, but reluctantly without any answers.

Or be it the answers he is receiving are not the answers to his questions. Who is the information? Why are we here? Who was behind all of this? Are the 3 most important question while watching this film, but Matt Damon's character shines, with true courage and sheer balls to do what not many are willing to. Go against the grain to see whom is truly right.

This movie had a very solid script, very good directing, was also very well shot and depicts a very real moral dilemma faced by anyone whom sees something first hand. Be it in the military or in civilian life. Solid acting made this movie that much better, to finally see a movie that showcases how corrupt a country can truly become, be it any country for that matter, truthfully shows that it really only takes that one person to truly make a difference in its outcome.

The Hurt Locker

5 Oscar wins for a real life Counter-Strike movie. I dont think so. Even though the movie was definitely different and showed a side of counter terrorism with a very fresh perspective, it still did not come close to having what it took to receive 5 Oscars.

A team of 3 is what defuses the bombs in this movie, one of the members is replaced, with a guy that knows what he is doing, but seems to have a couple of screws loose. Internal turmoil, dramatic scenes, triumph shown in character, showing how one person can take something so personal, but then leave his real life behind for the life he leads overseas.

I can easily say this was a good movie, that is not in question. The characters were well done, the acting was definitely the highlight to these actors careers at this point, the script was not bad at all and the cinematography was nicely done as well.

The Final [2010]

A r u c a r D . [ R ] . Filed Under:

The Final sets the standard for all of those whom were tortured and pissed off in high school. It is a gore / horror movie with a different perspective I have seen in other movies.

It is of course and above all just a movie, but the reality of its situation made the movie enjoyable and watchable. Of course not for kids, of course not for those whom already some sort of idea of doing something of the sort to someone. [Not saying someone would]

Gore, Drugs, Alcohol, stuck up kids, bullies, the victims and soon to be victim, all embodied in one movie. I thought the movie was going to be a pure piece of shit, as most high school movies often are and make absolutely no sense. But this movie did not disappoint as much, as it showcased a brutal reality, and made it that much more believable.

I by no means am saying the movie was without flaws, because that would be downright stupid. But I will say it was enjoyed and watched in good company. Nothing better than some simple gore to start up a night. LoL

Regardless, give the movie a shot if your into movies such as Saw or Hostel. This of course is not as gruesome, but it definitely is more believable.

6.5 / 10 [Not a 7 due to some poor acting parts and some shitty scripting moments.]

I do not know if many of you are fans or have seen the likes of Super Troopers or Broken Lizard's Club Dread, but here is another movie fresh from their talent.

I had never heard of this movie, truthfully was a little disappointed with Club Dread, because it could have been a good movie. [It had its moments.] But I gave it a watch regardless for review purposes and for the curiosity. Another waiter movie some may say, but this is nothing like Waiting or Still Waiting.

Matter fact if thats your type of movie, you might want to stay away from this one. The comedy in this one is alot simpler, more practical, and also a little more realistic than the other movies. I enjoyed some of the characters played, everyone for the most part having their own stories, showing their personalities immediately.

Which is definitely a plus, but I will definitely say that it is not for everyone. This is just a difficult movie to give a solid rating for, due to the fact that some people have different senses of humor, but in my opinion I sat through it, actually enjoyed it. No insane outbursts of fuck, no ridiculous titty showing, but had a drunk waiter, an insane waiter, and a flirty waiter that gets her face burned with soup and continues to wait.

A good simple movie to watch when you just need something to occupy time, it will not disappoint you, but it will not make you piss your pants either. Smooth I believe is the word, and this one definitely is there.

7 / 10 [I love Broken Lizard, I loved Beerfest and truly do hope that they make Potfest.. lol Super Troopers 2 and 2 more movies are on their schedules next.]

The Messenger

Now this was a movie I did not know anything about and was told about it by someone whom was / is contemplating joining the military himself. So of course out of respect I gave it a watch.

The beginning of the movie is very dramatic, very forthcoming and very well done. The rest of the movie, is where the problems start unfolding. Woody Harrelson is an incredible actor, and his recent performance in Zombieland brought him back to acting stardom.

Problem is, this movie could have been another incredible role, if ONLY it was continued as it started. The story started to drag on, leave its initial path and follow the main actors stupidity, instead of following what the movies title encompasses.

I have never seen a movie with this as a premise, which is what made me so curious once I started watching it. It is a difficult situation to have the military come to your house, tell you your family has been KIA, and not show a care in the world while telling you. But that is the reality of the situation, and this showcased it perfectly in the beginning, but then strayed as I stated previously.

Just for that alone, it dropped the movie so many points on my perspective, dragged out scenes, showcasing ridiculous personal situations, add to that the fact that it just stopped making sense and the ending was boldface stupid.

Once I saw the beginning I truly thought this was going to be a sleeper movie, one that isnt considered award worthy or worthy of greatness but turns out to be. But I was let down, as well as would anyone else whom watches this.

5 / 10 [Sorry Woody.]

I am a very avid fan of MMA, I love the events, love the clothing, love their sponsorship hats, flags, the sportsmanship, most of all the respect.

Now with all of this said, I have absolutely no idea how this movie was ever constructed. I understand the TapouT brand motto being, "Never Quit".. But I am pretty sure they should have once they started seeing not only the acting, but the shitty script this movie gave way to.

Rashad Evans with some practice can definitely become an actor, he did not do so terrible in this movie, Keith Jardine the same, as well as Forrest Griffin and Nate Marquardt.. The problem is not the UFC fighters, the problem is the horrible movie they were involved with.

Shitty acting by its main actor, nothing but tits and ass for a good chunk of the movie, dont get me wrong, I love to see such, but in such a ridiculous fashion, I would much rather watch some pr0n. Shitty story line, basically is supposed to be an underdog story in the MMA world. Which it turns out, the main actors mother was a 4 time world champion boxer, whom died or was killed, dont remember dont care. It just didnt add up.

Dirty fights, fixed fights, mobsters in MMA? I understand the supposed possibility in any sport of such situations, but this is not the image MMA needs especially with the amount of negativity that was surrounding MMA the passed few years.

Brooklyn's Finest

Coming from the director of such a classic as Training Day, I knew I needed to prepare myself for a gritty, down to earth, real scenario embracing movie. This movie definitely delivered on all of the above, but I felt there was something missing. The ending was also not one I was pleased with, as it left you with questions with no answers to them. [Not particularly about the story, moreso about some characters.]

3 of the 4 stars above were characterized as cops, one of which plays a notorious drug dealer whom just got home after 8 years, 2 cops with a conflicting secret life, 1 cop with a conflicting life in general, a drug dealer who wants out.

Movie was well shot, scripting was also nicely done, acting was not bad at all and it definitely is in line with whole drama / crime genre. I am not about dramatic movies at all, but there are just those movies that grip you and do not want you to let go, this story definitely had the potential and did so in some occasions, but the ending eliminated that grasp.

Movie is well worth a watch and a buy, I cannot say I enjoyed it more than Training Day, but it definitely was up there and up to par.

Killer Bean Forever

Once I heard this movie was done by the lead animator of The Matrix Reloaded, I knew I had to check it out. Come to find out, it is the second movie done by him in this series, also supposedly the last.

To be honest, this movie was very well done. The animation for being done by one man was awesome, and the music played very nicely to the scenes in the movie. The dialog was not boring, the characters were interesting enough to keep you entertained, and there is no blood in the movie so kids can watch it as well. [Apart from the whole gun thing, but with no blood, it will keep them from complaining.]

The DVD itself is cheap, especially for a new release at 13.99. Support the artist, DVD can be purchased over @ http://www.killerbeanforever.com also comes with a killer 90 minute how it was made featurette.

If you have not seen it, im sure many have not, check it out. You will definitely not be disappointed, and it has enough kick ass action to make you want some more.

Alice In Wonderland

A r u c a r D . [ R ] . Filed Under:

What can you expect from another Tim Burton movie? Insanity. Pure insanity. Big headed queens, incredible looking fantasy layouts, awesome characters, trippy movie scenes, and a completely custom spin on disneys original classic of the same title.

This is NOT the Alice In Wonderland some of you may remember as you were children.. This is Tim Burton's creation, spawned entirely from his head. The only thing similar to the movie of yesteryear are the characters and a familiar falling down the rabbit hole.

But the similarities are just that, as chesher is different, the story is different and enticing. I saw this one in 3D and it of course as Disney always does it is a very well done 3D movie. I read a review before saying that you can barely notice the 3D and that it did not seem to have 3D in mind and that it was added in after the fact.

These are all the reviewers opinions, and although I do respect him for saying so. Fuck him for not paying attention. This movie is to be taken as is, not to be compared with the original, and to be enjoyed by the open minded and children alike. I went to the movie theatre and there were kids there, they loved it.

People said the same about Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, but it turned out to be a very good movie as well. I enjoyed this movie, as it was different, darker, more twisted than the original. A dragon getting its head chopped off in a disney movie? Priceless.

8.5 / 10 Give it a shot, I did not regret it.

Tracy Morgan in his big break? Bruce Willis having a partner whom is comedic? O yes, this is an epic moment. lol This shit was funny, and the acting was hilarious / entertaining enough to pass by.

Sean William Scott played a thief / parkour addict that made him as hilarious as usual. The element that sort of threw me off was the mexican gang members. Their acting just was not up there at all and you had the brother of one of the heads of the gang being a puerto rican that spoke shitty spanish.

It just did not make sense, especially being spanish my damn self I felt like that kid personally extended his hand and slapped the shit out of me. lol Yes I am taking it a little far, but thats how shitty his spanish was, and for him to speak that only, is what was aggravating.

Other than that, the movie was enjoyable and you could easily spend the time in the movie theatre laughing your ass off with your friends if you went in a group.

Did You Hear About The Morgans?

A r u c a r D . [ R ] . Filed Under:

I did not expect many laughs coming from this movie, but I just had to watch it after seeing the trailer of Hugh Grant with the bear in the outdoors and Sarah Jessica Parker still arguing with him. It just seemed so realistic and down to earth I had to give it a shot.

I was not disappointed, delivery from both of them was very well done, you could easily believe they were actually married and went through some real troubles, and their assistants you could also tell were falling for each other even though they were constantly competing with each other as well.

The couple that they end up staying with in Ray , Wyoming, was actually outstanding as well. Even though they do not speak about the problems much, when they do explain some things you could also be easily convinced they really were a married couple that had endured some trouble as well.

This is a very nicely done romantic comedy with very real situations, and can easily be watched with the person you care for and see what it truly takes to be happy with a relationship.

Finally finished watching this movie after starting to watch it around 5 times and stopping. Onto the review. . . This movie was overall alright. I cannot say that the acting had me gripped, because it did not, I also cannot say that the script was all that, because it was not.. I also will not say that the fighting had me, because it was at times, for lack of a better word or be it the perfect word, corny.

The backdrop to the story was actually enticing, but the delivery was not there and actually had me wondering why they kept running around making the same mistakes.

I will admit, I sat through the entire movie to see what the outcome of the story was, as I said it was enticing and I do love me a good story. Unfortunately, I have to be honest and say this movie although watchable, is just something to pass the time with.

6 / 10 Not the worst movie I have seen, but due to the story behind it I expected alot more.

This movie was produced by the same producers whom brought you the Saw series. I am not a big fan of Saw as a series, but I will admit that I did like the first movie. This movie was gory, and definitely is an opera.. But it is an opera in a very loose sense, seeing as there are rock elements, and a bunch of other styles of music and also singing.

The story behind this movie as well is very well done. The acting itself was one that I actually found entertaining as it was  not a bore to watch and actually kept me in my seat. The scripting was well done, the acting was also well done, and the singing was actually enjoyable and didnt make me want to rip my ears off with rusty pliers.

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

A r u c a r D . [ R ] . Filed Under:

Lets get down to business, this movie was downright weird. Confusing as all hell with a twist of pure insanity to mix. Heath Ledger whom turns into Collin Farrel and Jude Law... O did I mention also Johnny Depp? A Dr. whom finds entertainment with the devil by making bets with him for souls.

The devil whom granted the Dr. immortality in exchange for his first born once he or she hit 16, loves smoking, exceedingly so and also loves rigging the bets to his favor, but not to win, o no.. To tie.

The movie is awkward enough to have you scratching your heads, and crazy enough to make you think what the fuck was the writer / director thinking. Walk into a mirror and view deep into your own imagination, walk into it with two people and the stronger imagination takes over, making it either a nightmare for the other, or a blissful moment.

Did I mention Vern Troyer was in this movie? O yes, he plays the doctors faithful sidekick, whom always says, "What would I do without you?" Percy [Vern Troyer's character replies] "You could always get a midget.]

I would say watch it, the camera shots are not bad, the acting is not terrible either and the story once it actually develops gets you into it. The CG also for the imagination scenes are pretty incredible, very nice to look at and also very well done.

7 / 10 [Confusing as all hell... lol]
