Green Zone

A r u c a r D . [ R ] . Filed Under:

A true story about a corrupt use of information, or be it the best way of using deception to a population. Testing the true strength of an army mans will, lies, war, deceit, misinformation, being misled, falsification of government documentation, twisting a mans words to use them against them to make a situation out of nothing.

No, I am not speaking about the government of today. Even though this bodies it in its entirety. I am speaking of the movie Green Zone. This movie literally puts things into perspective for you, whether you wish to see things for what they are or not, war is and always has been about politics, this movie pushes that envelope that much further.

Matt Damon plays Chief Warrant Officer to the U.S. Army Roy Miller. He and his team are given the task of going to the sites located and described in their briefings and check for WMD's. What happens when he sees that there is nothing there? He becomes a true human being. Thats what happens. He asks natural and important questions, but reluctantly without any answers.

Or be it the answers he is receiving are not the answers to his questions. Who is the information? Why are we here? Who was behind all of this? Are the 3 most important question while watching this film, but Matt Damon's character shines, with true courage and sheer balls to do what not many are willing to. Go against the grain to see whom is truly right.

This movie had a very solid script, very good directing, was also very well shot and depicts a very real moral dilemma faced by anyone whom sees something first hand. Be it in the military or in civilian life. Solid acting made this movie that much better, to finally see a movie that showcases how corrupt a country can truly become, be it any country for that matter, truthfully shows that it really only takes that one person to truly make a difference in its outcome.

The Hurt Locker

5 Oscar wins for a real life Counter-Strike movie. I dont think so. Even though the movie was definitely different and showed a side of counter terrorism with a very fresh perspective, it still did not come close to having what it took to receive 5 Oscars.

A team of 3 is what defuses the bombs in this movie, one of the members is replaced, with a guy that knows what he is doing, but seems to have a couple of screws loose. Internal turmoil, dramatic scenes, triumph shown in character, showing how one person can take something so personal, but then leave his real life behind for the life he leads overseas.

I can easily say this was a good movie, that is not in question. The characters were well done, the acting was definitely the highlight to these actors careers at this point, the script was not bad at all and the cinematography was nicely done as well.

The Final [2010]

The Final sets the standard for all of those whom were tortured and pissed off in high school. It is a gore / horror movie with a different perspective I have seen in other movies.

It is of course and above all just a movie, but the reality of its situation made the movie enjoyable and watchable. Of course not for kids, of course not for those whom already some sort of idea of doing something of the sort to someone. [Not saying someone would]

Gore, Drugs, Alcohol, stuck up kids, bullies, the victims and soon to be victim, all embodied in one movie. I thought the movie was going to be a pure piece of shit, as most high school movies often are and make absolutely no sense. But this movie did not disappoint as much, as it showcased a brutal reality, and made it that much more believable.

I by no means am saying the movie was without flaws, because that would be downright stupid. But I will say it was enjoyed and watched in good company. Nothing better than some simple gore to start up a night. LoL

Regardless, give the movie a shot if your into movies such as Saw or Hostel. This of course is not as gruesome, but it definitely is more believable.

6.5 / 10 [Not a 7 due to some poor acting parts and some shitty scripting moments.]

I do not know if many of you are fans or have seen the likes of Super Troopers or Broken Lizard's Club Dread, but here is another movie fresh from their talent.

I had never heard of this movie, truthfully was a little disappointed with Club Dread, because it could have been a good movie. [It had its moments.] But I gave it a watch regardless for review purposes and for the curiosity. Another waiter movie some may say, but this is nothing like Waiting or Still Waiting.

Matter fact if thats your type of movie, you might want to stay away from this one. The comedy in this one is alot simpler, more practical, and also a little more realistic than the other movies. I enjoyed some of the characters played, everyone for the most part having their own stories, showing their personalities immediately.

Which is definitely a plus, but I will definitely say that it is not for everyone. This is just a difficult movie to give a solid rating for, due to the fact that some people have different senses of humor, but in my opinion I sat through it, actually enjoyed it. No insane outbursts of fuck, no ridiculous titty showing, but had a drunk waiter, an insane waiter, and a flirty waiter that gets her face burned with soup and continues to wait.

A good simple movie to watch when you just need something to occupy time, it will not disappoint you, but it will not make you piss your pants either. Smooth I believe is the word, and this one definitely is there.

7 / 10 [I love Broken Lizard, I loved Beerfest and truly do hope that they make Potfest.. lol Super Troopers 2 and 2 more movies are on their schedules next.]

Now this was a movie I did not know anything about and was told about it by someone whom was / is contemplating joining the military himself. So of course out of respect I gave it a watch.

The beginning of the movie is very dramatic, very forthcoming and very well done. The rest of the movie, is where the problems start unfolding. Woody Harrelson is an incredible actor, and his recent performance in Zombieland brought him back to acting stardom.

Problem is, this movie could have been another incredible role, if ONLY it was continued as it started. The story started to drag on, leave its initial path and follow the main actors stupidity, instead of following what the movies title encompasses.

I have never seen a movie with this as a premise, which is what made me so curious once I started watching it. It is a difficult situation to have the military come to your house, tell you your family has been KIA, and not show a care in the world while telling you. But that is the reality of the situation, and this showcased it perfectly in the beginning, but then strayed as I stated previously.

Just for that alone, it dropped the movie so many points on my perspective, dragged out scenes, showcasing ridiculous personal situations, add to that the fact that it just stopped making sense and the ending was boldface stupid.

Once I saw the beginning I truly thought this was going to be a sleeper movie, one that isnt considered award worthy or worthy of greatness but turns out to be. But I was let down, as well as would anyone else whom watches this.

5 / 10 [Sorry Woody.]

I am a very avid fan of MMA, I love the events, love the clothing, love their sponsorship hats, flags, the sportsmanship, most of all the respect.

Now with all of this said, I have absolutely no idea how this movie was ever constructed. I understand the TapouT brand motto being, "Never Quit".. But I am pretty sure they should have once they started seeing not only the acting, but the shitty script this movie gave way to.

Rashad Evans with some practice can definitely become an actor, he did not do so terrible in this movie, Keith Jardine the same, as well as Forrest Griffin and Nate Marquardt.. The problem is not the UFC fighters, the problem is the horrible movie they were involved with.

Shitty acting by its main actor, nothing but tits and ass for a good chunk of the movie, dont get me wrong, I love to see such, but in such a ridiculous fashion, I would much rather watch some pr0n. Shitty story line, basically is supposed to be an underdog story in the MMA world. Which it turns out, the main actors mother was a 4 time world champion boxer, whom died or was killed, dont remember dont care. It just didnt add up.

Dirty fights, fixed fights, mobsters in MMA? I understand the supposed possibility in any sport of such situations, but this is not the image MMA needs especially with the amount of negativity that was surrounding MMA the passed few years.

Brooklyn's Finest

Coming from the director of such a classic as Training Day, I knew I needed to prepare myself for a gritty, down to earth, real scenario embracing movie. This movie definitely delivered on all of the above, but I felt there was something missing. The ending was also not one I was pleased with, as it left you with questions with no answers to them. [Not particularly about the story, moreso about some characters.]

3 of the 4 stars above were characterized as cops, one of which plays a notorious drug dealer whom just got home after 8 years, 2 cops with a conflicting secret life, 1 cop with a conflicting life in general, a drug dealer who wants out.

Movie was well shot, scripting was also nicely done, acting was not bad at all and it definitely is in line with whole drama / crime genre. I am not about dramatic movies at all, but there are just those movies that grip you and do not want you to let go, this story definitely had the potential and did so in some occasions, but the ending eliminated that grasp.

Movie is well worth a watch and a buy, I cannot say I enjoyed it more than Training Day, but it definitely was up there and up to par.

Killer Bean Forever

Once I heard this movie was done by the lead animator of The Matrix Reloaded, I knew I had to check it out. Come to find out, it is the second movie done by him in this series, also supposedly the last.

To be honest, this movie was very well done. The animation for being done by one man was awesome, and the music played very nicely to the scenes in the movie. The dialog was not boring, the characters were interesting enough to keep you entertained, and there is no blood in the movie so kids can watch it as well. [Apart from the whole gun thing, but with no blood, it will keep them from complaining.]

The DVD itself is cheap, especially for a new release at 13.99. Support the artist, DVD can be purchased over @ http://www.killerbeanforever.com also comes with a killer 90 minute how it was made featurette.

If you have not seen it, im sure many have not, check it out. You will definitely not be disappointed, and it has enough kick ass action to make you want some more.

8.5 / 10 [Got to love the fact that its self animated, I mean come on.]
