Now this was a movie I did not know anything about and was told about it by someone whom was / is contemplating joining the military himself. So of course out of respect I gave it a watch.
The beginning of the movie is very dramatic, very forthcoming and very well done. The rest of the movie, is where the problems start unfolding. Woody Harrelson is an incredible actor, and his recent performance in Zombieland brought him back to acting stardom.
Problem is, this movie could have been another incredible role, if ONLY it was continued as it started. The story started to drag on, leave its initial path and follow the main actors stupidity, instead of following what the movies title encompasses.
I have never seen a movie with this as a premise, which is what made me so curious once I started watching it. It is a difficult situation to have the military come to your house, tell you your family has been KIA, and not show a care in the world while telling you. But that is the reality of the situation, and this showcased it perfectly in the beginning, but then strayed as I stated previously.
Just for that alone, it dropped the movie so many points on my perspective, dragged out scenes, showcasing ridiculous personal situations, add to that the fact that it just stopped making sense and the ending was boldface stupid.
Once I saw the beginning I truly thought this was going to be a sleeper movie, one that isnt considered award worthy or worthy of greatness but turns out to be. But I was let down, as well as would anyone else whom watches this.
5 / 10 [Sorry Woody.]
